Fender 64 Vibroverb Custom Blackface Tube Amplifier
Guitar Combo Amps
This all-tube, completely hand-wired combo amp is the first addition to Fender's "Custom" series since the mid '90s. The Vibroverb was designed with legendary "Amp Doctor" Cesar Diaz, who contributed his favorite modifications. Designed with a solid-finger-jointed pine cabinet for thick, resonant tone and the unique, throaty sound of a 15" speaker, this 50-watt is even more than the gorgeous reissue it appears to be.

REVIEWS Feature: Fender/Diaz and vibrato are least useful. Everything else is good. Parts are o.k. but Fender should have used better parts such as caps etc...considering the nearly boutique selling price.
Quality: Fender Custom shop has great Quality Control by todays standard which would translate to average for the early to mid-1960's. Should last decades with some T.L.C.
Value: Selling price in today's dollar comparable to selling price in 1960's dollars.
Desirability: Practical addition
Sound: This authentic AB763 circuit produces the rich classic Blackface tone through a fairly good Eminence speaker. Additional Diaz mod. is o.k. but not necessary. Stock 6L6 power tubes sound fine but install some good n.o.s. 12ax7/at7 in the pre-amp for better tone. Vibrato is weak like the original. A quality JBL D130 speaker clone would make it hard to beat.
Support: No problems so far.
Overall: The tonal characteristics of the the B.F. AB763 circuit through a 15 inch speaker is the reason I bought it. I would buy it again. I have owned and played through many pro amps. The only other amp I would like to have instead would be a new Standel with JBL D130.
