Points deducted for: (1) The redundant bass & treble controls on channels 1 & 2. There is already a 3-band master EQ and an EQ for the mic input and (2) there is no XLR mic input but ironicaly, it has XLR outputs for powered speakers. CD controls are easy to use and the mixer has the basics that every DJ needs. I like the fact that it has a 3rd channel so you can add an I-Pod or laptop.
Quality:
Despite the rumors I heard about their reliability, I have not had any problems.
Value:
Roadcase should come standard even if the price is more.
Sound:
For basic sound applications, the sound is fine. Bass sounds a little muddy, but the mids & highs are decent. With a sub, it doesn't matter.
Ease of Use:
It can't get any easier to use than this.
Overall:
Because of its basic features, the CD Mix 3 is more suited for the beginner or the DJ who only needs to play and mix CD/MP-3 discs. That being said, I purchased one of these for myself as a backup. I use it mostly for my outdoor parties in case it rains so my good stuff does not get ruined and in case I need music in a separate location. Spend the extra $69 and get the optional roadcase (CD MIX Case) so you don't damage your Numark. In a nutshell, buy one and keep it in your van in case you ever have an equipment malfunction or need a lightweight basic DJ setup.
