The PMD670 records your choice of uncompressed WAV or MP2, and now - MP3 files (selectable compression rates) that you can immediately drag-n-drop onto your computer hard drive via USB. The PMD670's Type III PC Card slot is compatible with both compact flash (using an adaptor) and ATA-size PC Cards, which are widely available at computer/electronics retailers. The slot is also designed to accept cost-effective IBM MicroDrives, miniature removable hard disks with capacities as high as 10 gigabytes for over 12 hours of continuous WAV file recording.

Sound:
I used it to record a 5 piece jazz combo live in a bar, using a Audio Techica stereo microphone quite close to the two horns. The musicians were very please with the quality of the sound.

Ease of Use:
Manual is a bit difficult to get through, this recorder is so versatile, that you have to read and practice to learn to set it up how you needed it.
